This lesson delves into the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), examining its successes, limitations, and the role of non-state actors in advancing women's rights globally.   • A Nearpod or Canva presentation: Teacher will lead students through an interactive presentation designed to introduce them to CEDAW.

 

 

  • Source-Based Questions: Students read various sources on CEDAW and answer guided questions to understand its background, monitoring mechanisms, global impact, and limitations.

 

  • Case Study: Non-State Actors and CEDAW: Students will choose one organization working to advance women's right and research the organization's mission, methods, accomplishments, and its relationship with CEDAW. They will reflect on how CEDAW inspires and supports the organization's work and share their insights with the class.
